Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review: Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra brings together powerful hardware, intelligent software and a distinctive privacy-focused display in one premium Android smartphone. Designed for users who want advanced photography, productivity and entertainment features, the Galaxy S26 Ultra represents Samsung's latest approach to its flagship Ultra lineup.
Among its standout features are a 200MP main camera, a large 6.9-inch display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and a built-in Privacy Display that helps keep sensitive information away from people viewing the screen from the side.
But how useful are these upgrades in everyday life, and should US buyers consider the Galaxy S26 Ultra? Here's a closer look at its most important features.
Premium Design and a Large 6.9-Inch Display
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra features a refined design built around a large 6.9-inch display. Its slim profile, rounded corners and Armor Aluminum frame give it a modern appearance while maintaining the recognizable Galaxy Ultra identity.
Samsung lists the device at approximately 7.9mm thick and 214 grams, making it a relatively slim device considering its large screen and integrated S Pen.
The expansive display provides plenty of room for watching videos, browsing websites, editing photos and working with multiple applications.
Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protects the front, while Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is used on the rear.
For buyers who frequently watch movies, play games or work on their phones, the large display is one of the device's major attractions.
Built-In Privacy Display: A Standout Feature
One of the Galaxy S26 Ultra's most interesting innovations is its built-in Privacy Display.
Unlike conventional privacy screen protectors, this feature is integrated directly into the phone's display technology.
When activated, it limits visibility from side angles while keeping content visible to the person looking directly at the screen.
This can be particularly useful when checking banking applications, entering passwords or reading private messages in public places.
Samsung also provides customization options, allowing users to activate privacy protection for selected applications, password entry and incoming notifications.
Privacy Display is especially relevant for commuters, business professionals and anyone who regularly uses their smartphone in crowded environments.
However, maximum privacy settings may slightly affect display appearance, so users can adjust the feature according to their preferences.
200MP Camera System and Advanced Photography
Photography remains a major focus of Samsung's Ultra smartphones, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra continues that tradition with a high-resolution 200MP main camera.
The primary camera features an F1.4 aperture designed to capture more light, particularly in challenging lighting conditions.
A 50MP telephoto camera adds flexibility when photographing subjects from a distance.
The camera system is designed for a variety of situations, including portraits, landscapes, travel photography and everyday moments.
Nightography: Better Photos and Videos After Dark
Samsung's Nightography technology focuses on improving image and video capture in low-light environments.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra's wider main-camera aperture allows more light to reach the sensor, helping the device capture brighter nighttime scenes.
Samsung claims improved brightness for low-light video capture compared with its previous design.
This could be particularly useful when recording concerts, evening cityscapes, restaurants or outdoor events after sunset.
Actual image quality will still depend on lighting, movement and camera settings.
For users who frequently take photographs at night, the upgraded camera hardware and image-processing features are important reasons to consider this model.
Galaxy AI and Photo Assist
The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces intelligent tools intended to simplify everyday smartphone tasks.
One of its notable features is Photo Assist, which allows users to modify images using natural-language instructions and supported editing controls.
Instead of relying entirely on traditional editing tools, users can describe certain changes they want to make.
For example, supported AI editing tools can help adjust image elements, restore details or creatively transform photographs.
These features are particularly interesting for content creators, social media users and people who regularly edit pictures directly on their smartphones.
Galaxy AI also includes contextual assistance designed to help users complete tasks more efficiently.
Now Nudge and Smarter Suggestions
Now Nudge is designed to provide relevant suggestions based on what users are doing.
Rather than requiring users to switch between multiple applications for every task, supported suggestions can appear at useful moments.
The practical benefit depends on app compatibility, settings and the user's daily workflow.
Some Galaxy AI features may require a Samsung account, internet access or additional services.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy: Performance
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a customized processor designed for Samsung's flagship smartphone.
Samsung highlights improvements in CPU, GPU and neural processing performance.
The upgraded processing hardware supports demanding applications, advanced photography features, multitasking and on-device AI capabilities.
For mobile gamers, the combination of powerful graphics processing and a large display makes the Galaxy S26 Ultra an appealing high-end option.
Samsung has also redesigned the device's vapor chamber cooling system to improve heat dissipation during demanding activities.
This is intended to help maintain more consistent performance during gaming, video recording and other processor-intensive tasks.
However, sustained gaming performance, frame rates and battery consumption will vary depending on the application and operating conditions.
Battery Life and Super Fast Charging 3.0
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra includes a 5,000mAh battery designed to support everyday smartphone use.
Samsung advertises up to 31 hours of video playback under its specified testing conditions.
Real-world battery life will depend on screen brightness, network conditions, applications, camera usage and other settings.
The phone also supports Super Fast Charging 3.0.
According to Samsung, the device can reach approximately 75% charge in around 30 minutes when used with compatible charging equipment under appropriate conditions.
This makes fast charging a useful feature for people who travel frequently or rely heavily on their phones throughout the day.
Available Colors and Storage Options
Samsung offers the Galaxy S26 Ultra in several finishes designed to suit different preferences.
The standard color lineup includes
Cobalt Violet
Sky Blue
Black
White
Samsung also offers Silver Shadow and Pink Gold through selected official Samsung sales channels.
Color availability can vary depending on the retailer, storage configuration and region.
Buyers should also check the exact RAM and storage configuration before ordering.
For US customers, selecting the correct model variant is important because carrier compatibility, warranty coverage and seller conditions may differ between listings.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Price in USA
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is positioned in Samsung's premium smartphone category.
Its price depends on the selected storage configuration, retailer promotions, trade-in offers and availability.

The 200MP camera, advanced image editing features and powerful processor also make the device attractive to photography enthusiasts, content creators and demanding Android users.
